Oktoberfest @ The Fort

I missed out last year by month but all were excite to attend this Oktoberfest thing to eat saurkrat, sausages and beer.

We got there and the gang had a table and instructed us to buy our coupons. I was thinking coupons? Why? Then I understood there is method to the madness. It made sense buy your coupons and the coupons are worth the equivalent of Pesos in paper so that the vendors can concentrate on preparing and serving the meals to the customers. I like!

So both Bubs and I got sausages and saurkrat with pretzels - yum! Those pretzels were awesome!

The entertainment was great also, we were introduced to the Rappers of Tondo. I was so impressed with the small guy who at first wasn't really doing anything except walking around the stage all dressed (as you do) as a little rapper would. Then suddenly he rapped, very impressive indeed. He was rapping so fast that I don't think he was breathing at all but you still managed to understand and he didn't even skip a beat!

Then the next act were The Bloomfields! A band that plays old music from the 50s-60s! What an energetic bad! I most impressed with their drummer - who can really sing and play the drums really well. He had an amazing voice and stage presence. The band really got the crowd going whilst singing 'Twist and Shout', 'Do that thing you do (the Wanderers)' and I was feeling a little homesick because I knew my Mom would have loved to be here. They were playing all the music she plays on CD whilst going about her housework or whilst Dad is driving her around in the car.

Then just when I thought it would get better, they brought out a DJ. Let's just say that this DJ successfully 'cleared' the crowd - definitely stuck in RETRO land. It would have been good if it was actually good music, but I think the DJ was a little confused about which genre to play - one moment retro and then the next trance with some sort of mix with retro which I couldn't really comprehend. Safe to say that as soon as we finished our beers, we also cleared and left the only 2 German girls who actually loved the music playing. I watched as another song came up from the bowels of that retro sound (which I didn't even recognise) the DJ was obviously thought was a crowd pleaser, there they were in their 'contorted, tortured' like state which these 2 ladies would have been happy to define as their form of dance. Well, I don't think they'll be auditioning for 'So you think you could dance' anytime soon :P
