Been a long time since I've done one of these...
Well obviously I've returned to the motherland and here I am still continuing my relentless search for a job. Not that it's hard to get interviews...let's just say it's hard to get an update on a progress on one's interviews.
It does put a downer on one's ego when all you get are interviews and after jumping all the hoops it seems someone forgets to give you an update on your application. Then I have to keep myself in check since I'm not in Sydney anymore, things move a lot lot slower here in Philippines.
On another matter, I am enjoying the whole experience of being an expat here in the Philippines, I can't really complain - after all where else in the world will someone tell you once you've purchased a printer not to buy counterfit ink as it voids the warranty - I asked 'there is such a thing' and I'm answered with 'welcome to the Philippines' - you just have to laugh don't you.
The other weekend I decided to give my hubby a break from a very busy work weeks, emphasis on WEEKS. I know he had been dreaming about that Sofitel bed so I booked us overnight. He was so keen to have dinner at the Sofitel and was actually excited about sampling the buffet. Well, if you know my husband...he is happy with food...any food, this guys bought me a surf and turf on a quopon at Quaker's Inn once. Well my baby has come a long way, there we were sitting down having all you can eat japanese, chinese, filipino, indian, korean and what does my baby say 'I feel like an idiot, there's no variety'.
I had to laugh at the last statement, this coming from a guy who just a little over a year ago would have settled for a kebab roll from Oscars at Doonside. Here we are at a 5 star hotel and the food was not good enough for him. He wasn't alone in the matter, I actually started to think it wasn't really ALL THAT either. Maybe it's just because we are becoming accustomed to all the food we've been having at The Fort.
Earlier on that day, we had a pampering massage and body scrub treatment at Le Spa. Whilst waiting for our treatment, we were sipping on our Manila Mango tea - it was divine. So wonderful that we bought a satchel of it...@ P1k let me tell you back in Sydney I thought paying for a $5 tea bag at the Tea House at QVB was ridicoulous! How times and attitudes change...
Just tonight, I went to dinner with some of the Singapore secondees and our friend Abs to Greenbelt, after dinner he commented that he wanted to go to Marks & Spencer to get his cereal. I was thinking to myself...why not just get it from the supermarkets? Then one of the girls asked me 'why isn't he getting it from the supermarkets?' I shrugged and I asked the same when we finally got to M&S. I commented how posh he was that supermarket cereal wasn't good enough - I asked him so back in Sydney where do you get your cereal? His answer 'Woolies', fits of laughter and several M&S purchased items later I walked out thinking...geez we all seriously need a reality check when we finally get back to Sydney.
Meanwhile as my Dad says, 'enjoy it and think of it as a long, welcomed and well deserved holiday'. Thanks Dad I am, then when reality hits, I'll deal with it then :)
