17 January - Sinulog @ Market Market

I so should have listened to my instincts and bought my camera with me...but I thought what would I see at Market Market anyway? I'll just be grocery shopping...

Sure enough, there was a Sinulog it's the first one I've seen since I was a child...music, dancing and parade...how awesome!!!

Upon arriving at the main gates of Market Market...there was obviously something going on (you know how in Oz when there's a car accident and traffic is caused by 'rubber neckers'? Well here in Phils its a normal thing...you could be tying up your shoes laces and still people will look at you lol) There was a large crowd congrating at the centre, seats and of course a buffet...obviously for paid guests...though it looked more like a senior citizens gathering hehehehehe

Anyhow, you could hear the music...drums, acoutistics but mainly drums beating almost like a Mardi Gra when they're introducing the floats...it gets the heart pumping...

Then you finally see the parade, it came right around where we were sitting comfortably...'Ati-atihan' a group of dancers dancing infront of the musics in beat with thier native costumes...head gear full of multi-coloured feathers...

Right behind them are the musicians playing the drums and following them is the Queen/Princess who was holding the statue of Santo Ninyo and dancing with it behind her were more dancers dressed in yellow and similar head gear.

I sooooooooooo regret that I didn't bring my camera...urgghhhhhhhhhh but I guess there will be another opportunity...hopefully...
